Sustainable Development
To secure a future for the world’s most vulnerable island nations, Sustainable Development is at the center of AOSIS’ priorities.
Recognizing that for Small Island Developing States (SIDS) to truly prosper, the unique realities and circumstances of SIDS must be reflected in international development policies.
Guided by the Antigua and Barbuda Agenda for SIDS (ABAS), AOSIS continues to advocate for actions that address the structural challenges facing SIDS. This includes transforming the international financial architecture from one that measures countries primarily by income to the one that recognizes vulnerability, including through the adoption of the Multidimensional Vulnerability Index. These measures are essential to improving access to concessional finance, building resilient economies, advancing sustainable development, and securing a safe and prosperous future for present and future generations across SIDS.
