THE MULTIDIMENSIONAL VULNERABILITY INDEX (MVI)

The Multidimensional Vulnerability Index (MVI) is a tool which finally takes the special circumstances of SIDS into account, designed to help us access critical support to drive sustainable development.

The UN expert High Level Panel (HLP) is finalizing their final report on the MVI and their recommendations and it is expected to be presented to the General Assembly in September. The report and its recommendations will then be debated by Member States and the MVI will hopefully be adopted by the end of the year. At the same time the Multilateral Development Banks will be encouraged to pilot test the MVI and the Caribbean Development Bank has already signaled its intention to do so.
